Founded in 2016 as a community-building event, Voices on the Green is a series of live music, storytelling and speaking events which are centered around a common theme. Three times per year, storytellers, musicians, visual artists and expert speakers from First Parish and the surrounding community come together to share their diverse perspectives and to explore meanings at the intersection of that common theme.
For each event, the Voices team selects, mentors and supports a new group of performers and works to ensure that there is a large audience and a production of high quality that will reward both audience and performers. To foster connection and conversation, refreshments are provided both before the show and during an intermission. Finally, to extend the community-building beyond what happens during the show, Voices on the Green partners with and shares the proceeds of the evening with an exemplary community organization whose mission and activities are expressions of the theme for the show
